On Wednesday, March 12th, Dawn Hluebek, a special needs teacher at HL Johnson Elementary, received the 2014 Crystal Apple award from the Rotary Club of Royal Palm Beach. Ms. Hluebek was nominated by her piers for this award for her phenomenal work in the special needs field for over 30 years. Ms. Hluebek will be recognized at the Club’s weekly meeting on Thursday, April 24 at Friendly’s. The rotary Club of Royal Palm Beach has been awarding a teacher in the western community with the Crystal Apple for the last 21 years. Each year a different principal of a school is asked to select a teacher who stands out throughout the school year. The school displays the plaque with all the recipients on it for the year.
